The company began its operations in Athens in 2005, focusing on architectural studies, new construction projects, and renovations of existing buildings. From the outset, special attention was given to bioclimatic design, energy conservation, the use of eco-friendly materials, and improving the quality of indoor comfort.
An indicative example is one of the architectural studies from 2010, which included provisions for rainwater management systems, electric vehicle charging, a geothermal unit with a heat pump, green roof planting, and other systems that at the time seemed unusual but are now fundamental elements in designing an energy-efficient building.
In 2013, FUV’s founder, Theo Tountas, became the first energy consultant for the Italian organization CasaClima in Greece.
In 2019, FUV Constructions completed the first CasaClima Glod-certified building in Aegina, earning the prestigious Golden Cube award. This was an especially demanding project, located on a remote island area, where most materials had to be imported due to their unavailability in the Greek market. The greatest challenge, however, was training local crews to adapt to a completely new construction approach, standards and reality.
The successful resolution of this challenging project was also recognized in Greece, where in 2022 FUV received Gold & Platinum awards for the green certification of the Mediterranean Climate House. We were honored to be named Platinum Brand of the Year for 2022!
Also in 2022, FUV was recognized for its contribution to the Greek market at the Bravo Sustainability Dialogue & Awards and was named a sustainability ambassador for Greece.
In addition to its achievements in energy design, FUV’s commercial division, FUV Products, was recognized for one of the key innovative products it promotes in the Greek market. It received the Silver Award in the composite materials category for Muffaway, a product from the Italian company Naturalia-Bau, and was listed among the top companies of the year, ranking after Lafarge and before Novamix.
After years of dedicated work by FUV Products, the mineral wool Supafil, a product of Knauf Insulation, was also recognized in the same competition. FUV Products introduced the blown-in thermal insulation technique to Greece in 2013, completing over 1,000 projects in the first decade. To this day, we maintain the leadership in the number of applications across the country.
In 2023, the FUV team was awarded the Gold Prize at the Green Brand Awards for promoting sustainable solutions in buildings, with mechanical ventilation systems from the Italian company, Thesan.
